Photo tip
In terms of aperture, the bigger the number, the smaller the opening, and the greater the depth of field.
Lima links
I have been back in Lima for about a month now and have settled in nicely. I will be hanging a few of my prints in the new Kokopelli hostel in Mancora when it opens in July. There is a show here in Lima in a couple months and I am applying to display my work there.
I’ll let you all know how that goes!
Barranco
Barranco is a district in Lima that is known for it’s romantic, Bohemian atmosphere. Drawn there by the distinct feel, many artists, musicians, and photographers call this place home. Spanish architecture stands side by side with artisan markets adorned with pieces by Lima’s most renowned graffiti artists. The name Barranco means ravine in Spanish and reflects the layout of the area. A large ravine runs through the cliffs of the district toward the sea. Homes and restaurants with an expansive panoramic view of the ocean line this ravine. This is where I live.
Caral
Caral is an archeological site in the Supe Valley about 200 KM north of Lima. It is the oldest city found in the Americas thus far and dates to 3000 BCE, which puts it as a contemporary of Ancient Egypt. Some accounts have put up to 3000 people living in the area, but very few human remains have been found. The site is still only partially excavated, but so far a number of pyramids and large amphitheater pits, like the one below, have been unearthed.
